Bencana gempa bumi seringkali menyebabkan korban bencana tertimpa reruntuhan bangunan. Dari beberapa insiden yang terjadi, banyak korban masih dapat diselematkan jika evakuasi dilakukan dengan cepat. Masalah utama bagi tim penyelamat adalah menemukan korban dan lingkungan sekitar pasca bencana masih berbahaya untuk ditinjau. Penelitian ini harus menghasilkan robot pencarian korban bencana gempa bumi sebagai penunjuk jalan bagi tim penyelamat dalam menuju lokasi korban. Namun perlu diperhatikan dalam pemilihan komponen yang akan digunakan dalam melakukan penelitian ini. Hal ini perlu memperhitungkan ketahanan dalam melalui skenario bencana gempa bumi. Robot ini juga harus dapat melakukan pencarian korban dan dapat mendatangi korban agar dapat mempermudah tim penyelamat dalam pencarian korban.
