Abstract

Confectionery is one of the producers of residual production waste from the fashion industry in Indonesia. The amount of residual production waste that continues to grow can endanger the surrounding environment. KIKA Embroidery House is a home industry that produces ready-to-wear clothes and serves as a tailor and embroiderer so that it makes textile waste or production residue. The research method used is qualitative, with data collection in carrying out literature study research regarding the remaining production waste from the industry, observation, and exploration to innovate felt sheets produced from processed cotton fabric waste with the felting technique. The felting method has the potential to be another alternative in the processing of textile waste left over from production in the form of cotton fabrics. The potential for processing cotton fabric waste using the felting technique can be a creative effort because cotton fiber has good compaction ability for the wet felting process. Processing cotton fabric waste using the felting method aims to utilize and recycle cotton fabric waste with the upcycle fashion concept by using wet felting techniques to make new sheets of cloth and produce alternative fabrics to become fashion products with their characteristics with various textures and colors.
