IJCOSIN: Indonesian Journal of Community Service and Innovation is a scientific journal that publishes the results of community service activities that focus on solving real problems in society with an innovative and technology-based approach. Detailed scopes of articles accepted for submission to IJCOSIN include Applied Technology and Innovation in Healthcare, Agro-industry, Tourism, and Small and Medium Enterprises.
This journal's focus includes:
1. Application of Appropriate Technology
Appropriate technology refers to technology tailored to local needs, social conditions, and the economic capabilities of the community. This focus encompasses activities such as creating simple tools for agricultural processing, providing clean water systems, alternative energy sources (such as biogas or solar panels), and environmentally friendly household technologies, etc. The goal is to create solutions that are efficient, easy to use, and have a direct impact on improving the community's standard of living.
2. Social and Digital Innovation
Social innovation encompasses creative approaches that involve community collaboration to solve social problems. Digital innovation consists of the use of digital applications, platforms, or devices to support the local economy. Activities can include digital marketing training for MSMEs, the development of local e-commerce platforms, digital cash register systems for market vendors, the creation of community-based business models, etc. The focus is on creating economic sustainability and community independence through innovation.
3. Information and Communication Technology (ICT)-Based Solutions
The use of ICT in community service includes the development of digital learning media, mobile-based applications, environmental monitoring systems, and communication platforms to accelerate the flow of information. For example, e-learning training for teachers, early disease detection applications, or weather information systems for farmers. These technologies aim to bridge the information gap and expand access to basic services.
4. Systems Engineering and Design
This focus includes the development of tools, machines, or systems that can help communities increase efficiency and productivity in key sectors. Examples include semi-automatic planting and harvesting tools, automated livestock feeding systems, the development of fish smoking technology, or production management systems for home industries. These innovations support increased yields, reduced operational costs, and the competitiveness of local products.
5. Digital Transformation in Public Services and Community Governance
Digital transformation refers to the integration of technology in the delivery of public services, including village services, RT/RW financial management, public service queue systems, and application-based reporting. The goal is to create more transparent, faster, and accountable services. The development of village-level e-governance, public information dashboards, or digital literacy training for village officials falls within this scope.
6. Community Empowerment Based on Research Results and Innovative Technology
This focus emphasizes the transfer of research results from lecturers or academics to the community, so that research findings are not merely published. However, they can be applied to solve real-world problems. This scope encompasses community service activities aimed at fostering strategic partnerships among universities, communities, government, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to address local problems sustainably.
7. Technology Skills Development and Training
This focus includes technical skills training activities, including software usage, basic programming, graphic design, tool operation, and digital security training. This training is crucial for enhancing the community's competency, particularly among youth and vulnerable groups, enabling them to adapt to technological developments and increase employment and self-employment opportunities.
Every article that goes to the editor will be selected in advance on the scope and feasibility by the editorial board. Then, the articles will be sent to peer reviewers and will proceed to the next stage of the Blind Preview Process. Reviewers are unaware of the authors' identities, and authors are also unaware of the identities of the reviewers. At least two peer reviewers will review every submitted paper. After that, the articles will be returned to the authors for revision. The reviewing process will consider novelty, objectivity, method, scientific impact, conclusion, and references.
