Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy for Authors

Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Jurnal Ilmiah LISKI (Lingkar Studi Komunikasi) acknowledges the increasing importance of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI) technologies in scholarly communication and encourages their responsible use as supportive tools during manuscript preparation. However, the use of AI must always comply with the principles of academic integrity, research ethics, transparency, and scientific accountability.

Generative AI is intended solely as an assistive technology. It cannot replace the intellectual contributions, critical judgment, or ethical responsibilities of authors in conducting research, interpreting findings, or preparing scholarly manuscripts.

Permitted Uses

Authors may use Generative AI tools to assist with technical or editorial aspects of manuscript preparation, including but not limited to:

• improving grammar, spelling, punctuation, and language clarity

• enhancing writing style and readability without altering the scientific meaning

• formatting manuscripts, references, citations, and bibliographies, subject to author verification

• assisting with programming, code debugging, or data visualization, provided that all outputs are carefully reviewed and validated by the authors

• summarizing or reorganizing text originally written by the authors for drafting or revision purposes.

Authors are responsible for reviewing, verifying, and editing all AI-generated outputs before incorporating them into a manuscript. The use of AI does not diminish or transfer the authors' responsibility for the scientific quality and integrity of the work.

Prohibited Uses

Generative AI must not be used in any manner that compromises research integrity or publication ethics. Specifically, authors must not use AI to:

• generate original research data, research findings, analyses, or scientific interpretations without thorough human verification

• fabricate, falsify, manipulate, or alter research data or experimental results

• create citations, references, DOIs, or bibliographic information that have not been independently verified by the authors

• generate an entire manuscript or substantial portions of the intellectual content without appropriate disclosure

• misrepresent AI-generated content as entirely human-authored work

• obscure or transfer accountability for the scientific content of the manuscript

Any misuse of AI that violates publication ethics may result in the rejection of the manuscript or other editorial actions in accordance with the journal's ethical policies.

Authorship

Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Ilmiah LISKI.

Authorship requires substantial intellectual contribution, accountability for the integrity of the work, the ability to respond to editorial and peer review inquiries, and responsibility for the published record. Since AI systems cannot assume legal, ethical, or scholarly responsibility, they do not meet internationally accepted criteria for authorship.

Disclosure of AI Use

Authors are required to disclose the use of Generative AI whenever it has provided material assistance during the preparation of a manuscript.

A disclosure statement should clearly specify:

• The name of the AI tool or platform used (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Midjourney, or similar technologies)

• The purpose of its use (e.g., language editing, writing assistance, code generation, data visualization, or other technical support)

The disclosure should be included either in the Acknowledgements section or in a dedicated AI Use Statement, in accordance with the journal's submission guidelines.

Authors' Responsibilities

Regardless of whether Generative AI has been used during manuscript preparation, authors retain full responsibility for every aspect of their submission.

Authors are fully responsible for:

• The originality and authenticity of the manuscript

• The accuracy and reliability of all research data, analyses, interpretations, and conclusions

• The validity of all citations, references, and bibliographic information

• Compliance with applicable research ethics, publication ethics, copyright laws, and legal requirements

• The overall integrity of the submitted and published work.

The use of Generative AI does not transfer, reduce, or share responsibility with the AI system or its developers. Ultimate responsibility for the manuscript always rests with the authors.
