Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Theoretical implications and/or significance are clearly stated.
  • Literature review is adequate to support hypotheses and/or research questions.
  • Hypotheses/research questions are explicitly stated and addressed.
  • Sampling methodology is clearly explained, including limitations.
  • Analytical methods are appropriate and correctly applied.
  • All relevant statistics are reported in proper APA format.
  • Tables and figures are self-explanatory and support the analysis.
  • Discussion and conclusion address research questions, acknowledge limitations, and highlight contributions.
  • Manuscript is professionally written, clear, and free from grammatical or spelling errors.

Author Guidelines

Submission Guidelines for Dictum Journal

Dictum Journal is published quarterly online. It is an interdisciplinary journal that welcomes scholarly contributions related to cultural studies, communication, and the wider humanities and social sciences, with a particular emphasis on contemporary issues in Asia. We consider submissions of original research articles.

All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process. Authors are required to remove identifying information from their manuscripts to ensure anonymity during review.

Style

Format

  • Title on the first page.
  • Abstract (maximum 250 words) on the first page.
  • Keywords on the first page.
  • Main text begins on the second page.
  • Page numbers in the upper right corner.
  • Arial, 12-point font, 1.5 space.
  • Manuscript length:
    • Research and review papers: generally under 7,000 words, bibliography excluded.
  • Images, tables, and figures may be embedded in the text or submitted as separate files.

Important: Do not include your name, institutional affiliation, funding acknowledgments, or other identifying details in the manuscript. Self-citations should be anonymized as “deleted for anonymity.”

Specific Guidelines

Surveys

If reporting on a survey, include:

  • Population surveyed
  • Response rate
  • Dates of data collection
  • Methodology (sampling method, survey mode)

Tables and Figures

When presenting survey results, include:

  • Exact question and response wording
  • Number of respondents per category
  • Percentages for each answer
  • All necessary statistical details
